Bemelman Bar
Such an awesome Day Trip this week!  We had great adventures exploring the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  Waltzed down some beautiful off the beaten path streets, discovered one of the chicest most exclusive apartment buildings in the city, and made a video on a secret runway over the FDR.  These are a few shots from the Bemelman Bar one of the most magical (and cheerful!) places in New York and...

Inspiration
I’ve been obsessed with the idea of finger waving my hair for months and just yesterday I had an inspired moment as I passed the curling (and crimping!) irons in the local Duane Reade.  Aha!  I may not possess the skills to goop and form my hair in perfect little waves across my skull nor do I have the commercial dryer to sit under for hours while it “sets”, but I am a child of...

A change of a button
Loving my new (old-60’s) leopard!  I spotted this beauty a few weeks ago at the market and loved everything about it but the buttons.  They just didn’t suit the piece.  I figured it was nothing that a quick trip to M&J couldn’t fix.  And sure enough I think it’s very chic with the new black velvet ones!  These above were the old ones.  The black velvet are much...

Day Tripper
Yesterday, despite the utterly grey weather, we loaded up the car with a small mountain of clothes and set off for adventure.  Driving to the edge of Brooklyn and over the Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge we hit all of the beach towns on the barrier islands- technically Queens- from Breezy Point to Ft. Tilden, Belle Harbor to Far Rockaway.  Each has it’s own character and mystique, but all feel...

And another one
Love these 1960’s Malcolm Starr circus skirts!  They are so charming and unique; talk about novelty!  This look doesn’t go with the rest, but I want to shoot it anyways.  I feel like it needs a sleigh, loads of snow, and a bear skin blanket! Malcolm Starr circus skirt, Pierre Cardin Tuxedo blazer, vintage pearls, 1920’s black lace flapper hat, Acne pumps.

Looks...
Glynnis and I are off to attempt some photos on this totally dreary day.  Hopefully the heavens will part, the sun will come out, and we will snap some amazing images!  Off to exploring the bowels of Brooklyn we go! 1960’s Lord & Taylor paisley gypsy skirt, Araks Bikini top, Leather clogs from Spain, vintage hat and jewelry. 1960’s Oleg Cassini top, vintage Broomstick skirt,...

meet me at the bar...
Speaking of glamour…I am obsessed with these antique bar carts!  I love the idea of using them in your home to set up a real old fashioned bar.  Also Bergdorfs uses them on their shoe floor for displays.  GENUIS!  I think one of these could be very chic in The Beverly Room…serving (no pun intended:) either purpose.

le smoking
Glamorama!  These gorgeous 1940’s lighters make me wish I smoked.  I suppose smoking is one of those trends that actually may not come back into fashion.  Is it truly (almost) a thing of the past?
